A New Start-Up Food Company?
A new condiment, sauce, entree,
baked good, confection, or spice blend,
etc?

...some thoughts to make sure
that you don't have
a short-fill:
Your
Product
Take the
following into consideration prior to starting analysis and compliance with
us here at NutriLABEL and also before going to label design and
printing with your graphics person:
-
Decide where you will produce your product: commercial kitchen, pilot plant,
or a licensed co-packer.
The formulation may change due to regulatory and food safety requirements,
such as from mandated product sample testing (pH, water activity, etc.) as may
be required for compliance with your state and federal regulations. A
co-packer can assist on this. If not using a co-packer, consult with your
particular state's department of health services. Many state internet
resources are available.
It may take more than one attempt to achieve a scaled-up product
comparable to your original taste profile, especially when using a co-packer
or contract processor. Be patient and allow extra time in your business plan. Remember,
life's not a rehearsal...so take the time to do it right the first time.
-
Get
approval for your final production formula/recipe from any regulatory agency
involved. This depends upon your state requirements and current regulations.
United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA) though does apply to most all
types of processed packaged food products, especially those in inter-state
trade. Many states require pre-certification prior to production. If using a
licensed co-packer they will assist you, or manage that for you.
Your
Label
-
Determine
applicable regulatory requirements. Ask us. That's why we are here.
-
Determine
what storage information must be on your package: keep refrigerated, refrigerate
after opening, etc. if applicable.
-
Choose a
container size which is compatible with your product type. Work with your
co-packer.
-
Invest as
much of your start-up budget in your labels and product presentation as possible. This is the first thing the consumer, your
customers, will see.
-
Decide if
you wish to make nutrient content or health claims. If you do, just let us
know on our Services Order Form that comes with your services kit.
-
Then
you're ready to let us help you with the details. Nutritional Analysis,
Ingredient Statements with Allergen Compliance, FDA Label Compliance Review,
etc.
-
Our
affordable services schedule makes it easy for you and your new company to
do it right, the first time, without worries, potential future product
recalls or regulation problems.
Invest the time and money
only once for FDA compliant nutrition analysis and labeling assistance.
-
Then Pack
Your Product, Produce Your Labels, and to-market-to-market.
